X-Ray Services

Dr. Klein (top left) and Dr. Pocze can discuss a patient's x-ray from an exam room at Hawthorn's Faunce Corner facility with Radiologist Dr. Warren Salzman (below) while he is at the State Road facility.

Hawthorn Medical's Diagnostic Imaging Center is using new digital technology to improve the care we provide to our patients. X-ray studies are taken digitally and stored on a Picture Archival and Communication System (PACS), designed for transmission, display and storage of medical images, within a secure internet site. This technology assists radiologists in completing reports and having them available to other physicians more quickly. The report is viewed on a computer screen along with the key images.

Digital x-ray offers a number of benefits for both patients and physicians:

  • No film used; rapid access to reports and images
  • Images are available to physicians all the time, from any location
  • Physicians are able to view images in greater detail and magnify specific areas
  • Physicians can consult with radiologist while looking at the same image, even if they are in different locations
  • No waiting for film to be processed so the entire patient visit is streamlined
  • Films do not have to be located for follow-up appointments
  • Long-term storage of images is enhanced
