Matthew Messina, MD

Pulmonary Care

Dr. Messina is a graduate of the University of Rome School of Medicine. He completed his residency and fellowship at the State University of New York, Stonybrook, New York. He also did training at Downstate Medical Center, Bellevue Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital. Board certified in Internal Medicine with the American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr. Messina has served as Medical Director of the Respiratory Care Department at St. Luke’s Hospital since 1993. He was previously director at Tobey Hospital in Wareham and the former Parkwood Hospital in New Bedford.

Dr. Messina has written numerous articles published in the American Review of Respiratory Diseases, Journal of Allergy and Immunology, Chest, Journal of Aerosol Medicine, and Clinical Immunology. He has also had back-to-back articles published in the Journal of Applied Physiology.

Recipient of the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) Diabetes Physician Recognition award
