 Two Employees Earn Awards of Excellence
Two Hawthorn Medical employees, Alexandra Sousa, of New Bedford, and Lynn Martin, of Swansea, were presented with "Partners in Excellence" Awards at a recent ceremony. The "Partners in Excellence" Award was established by Partners HealthCare System to recognize talented and dedicated employees each year for their contributions to the organization. Alexandra Sousa is a medical assistant in the office of Dr. Gloriane Afonso-Fede. Alexandra joined Hawthorn Medical in February 2005. Her nominator noted how soon after she started that staff commented on Alexandra's "professionalism, dedication and attentiveness to patient and physician needs," and went on to say "Alexandra treats patients with dignity, respect and courtesy. She embodies everything in an employee in the business of caring for people." Lynn Martin, who has been employed at Hawthorn since August 1996, is a medical assistant in the office of Dr. Michael Egan and team leader for Hawthorn's 4586A Acushnet Avenue site. Lynn was nominated by several staff members and was described as "the ultimate team player" who will "jump in and help anywhere." "Lynn sees the positive in everything and everyone and helps other employees reach their potential." Lynn's commitment to patients was also noted; "The patient comes first with Lynn and it pervades our site, creating a positive atmosphere."
