Hawthorn Medical was recently honored at PCHI's Annual Meeting, where they were awarded a Nesson Award for the work done on the LMR implementation. Nesson Awards are given to programs that have exemplified superior work in the area's of innovation, collaboration and excellence. The award program was established as a tribute to the leadership of H. Richard Nesson, MD, a founder of Partners HealthCare System and a supporter of PCHI's creation.

The LMR Team was recognized for the complex implementation of LMR given the size of the practice, the number of specialties in the practice, as well as the logistical changes involved in the move to a new facility. Hawthorn exemplified innovation because they did not look at this project as what minimum steps could be accomplished to have notes documented in the LMR, but rather as an overall culture change and an opportunity to improve the practice.

The LMR Team at Hawthorn, led by Dr. James Tracey and Jim Gularek, includes Project Manager Susan Boulanger and Superusers Cheryl Cofer and Jackie Desrosiers. In addition, there were many Hawthorn physicians and staff members who gave their time for various aspects of the implementation including investigation of our work flow.
