Hawthorn Provides Free Mammograms

October 2006

In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Hawthorn Medical provided free screening mammograms to uninsured and underinsured women age 40 or older on Tuesday, October 24, 2006. This was the sixth year that Hawthorn has provided this service. The mammograms were done digitally at Hawthorn Medical's Diagnostic Imaging Center at 237A State Road. Digital mammograms provide the most advanced screening. Images are clear and precise and enable physicians to detect breast cancer earlier.

During the evening, a representative from the American Cancer Society was also available to answer questions and provide information on cancer prevention, detection, treatment and support.
