Digital mammography system

Hawthorn Medical uses the latest digital mammography system to provide the most advanced screening tool for our patients. Images produced by the digital system are clear and precise and enable physicians to detect and diagnose breast cancer earlier and more accurately. Digital images also give radiologists a better view of the breast, especially near the skin line and chest wall. The images are ready in about 10 seconds, eliminating the wait for films to be developed to be sure they are of good quality. If another opinion is needed, the image can be sent electronically to the second physician who can print it on film for review.

Our system is also equipped with computer aided detection (CAD) software. CAD acts as a radiologist's "second pair of eyes" when reading a mammogram. The technology has the potential to detect findings that might otherwise be overlooked, such as small calcifications that can be cancerous.
